V. Class Flotilla Leader destroyers consisted of HMS Vampire, (ex Wallace,) HMS Valentine (ex HMS Bruce) HMS Valhalla (ex Douglas) HMS Valorous (ex Montrose) and HMS Valkyrie (ex Malcolm). These ships were designed to do 34 knots and would outstrip any existing Flotilla Leaders. and This class were costing ?200,000 each which compared favorably to similar designed which were a good ?50,000 dearer. The first ships ordered were form Denny Brothers in April 1916 followed by the other three in July. These flotilla leaders had better armament than their predecessors and better accommodation. Displacement: 1188 tons normal, and 1400 tons deep load, Speed: 34 Knots Compliment: 115 Armament: Four 4-inch Guns two 2 pdr pompoms and Four 21-inch Torpedo Tubes. |

HMS Valorous (D82) | 8th May 1917 | Sold for scrapping in March 1947. | |
HMS Valkyrie | 13th March 1917 | Sold for scrapping in 1936. | |
