Earnest Class Destroyers.  Photos and history of the Earnest class destroyers of the Royal Navy.  Launched 1896 - 1897, the class included HMS Earnest, HMS Griffon, HMS Locust, HMS Panther, HMS Seal and HMS Wolf.
HMS Earnest 7th November 1896 Broken up in 1920.
HMS Griffon 21st November 1896 Broken up in 1920.
HMS Locust 5th December 1896 Broken up in 1919.
HMS Panther 21st January 1897 Broken up in 1920.
HMS Seal 6th March 1897 Broken up in 1921.
HMS Wolf 2nd June 1897 Broken up in 1921.

HMS Griffon

HMS Griffon - Name History

The fifteenth ?GRIFFON? is a twin-screw torpedo-boat destroyer, launched at Birkenhead in 1896.  She is of 355 tons, 6300 horse- power, and 30 knots speed.  Her length, beam, and draught are 210ft., 20ft., and 5ft.
