| E mail received with photos opposite:
My father, a US Navy Lieutenant, briefly served aboard the HMS
Campbell where he trained to become a radar officer.
Upon completion of his training, he was given this boars-head
plaque signed by the ship's officers.
I am not sure of the dates he served aboard the Campbell, but I
would guess late 1942 or early 1943. My father's full name was
Frank Lincoln Nagle III and would have had the rank of either Lieutenant
Junior Grade or Lieutenant. He
left the Navy in 1945 as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserves.
I hope you find this of interest. Sincerely, Frank L. Nagle IV |

MESSAGES
HMS SCOTT
.. GOLDEN BELMONT
EVERITT.. I would very much like to leave a message about my
grandfather, Golden Belmont Everitt.
He served on HMS Scott and was on board the day it was torpedoed
and sunk on the 18th October 1918. He
was only 18 years old but already a well-built man, and a strong swimmer.
He survived some hours in
the North Sea before being rescued, I think it was sunk off the Danish
coast, which must have been very chilly.
He stayed in the Navy as a deep sea diver, (we have photos of hiim
in a Siebe-Gorman suit), until 1945 having been recalled into the Combined
Forces. If anyone
has any information about the sinking of HMS Scott, or any photos, then my
father Glyn Everitt and I would be very grateful.
You can contact me, Jane Everitt, on my email - janee@aukett.com.
Thank you! Kind regards,
Jane Everitt
HMS CAMPBELL.
JOHN ARTHUR MOUSER.. My father served on HMS Campbell during
world war two, any body with any information, photos etc would be greatly
appreciated. Contact j.a.greenaway@ntlworld.com
JOHN HOLLAND. My father served on HMS Campbell from 1942 until its de commissioning in
1945. I would like to hear from any of his old shipmates and anyone else
who has photos or information of the war activities of HMS Campbell. if
you can help please contact Patrick Holland at lambeth@cygnus.uwa.edu.au
HMS MALCOLM
GEORGE VICTOR HUTCHINGS.. I have been told that my
father and uncle were boy seamen in WW1. The name Arethusa has been
mentioned. In 1931 he was on HMS Malcolm and in WW2 he was on HMS
Vimiera that went down off Sheerness. I am trying to find out what I
can about his naval record. Any suggestions are welcome. Contact
Here
** My Dad ran down the jetty, being shot and bombed by the
Luftwaffe on the 30th of May 1940. He then got on the HMS Malcolm
and got to Dover on the 31st. He then got on a train to Wool and
stayed at Stanley barracks. We think he was with the Royal Corps of
Transports, as along the way across France he and the guys he was with had
to smash up trucks along the way. I would like if at all possible
someone could get back to us? My brother and myself are trying to
piece together as much of what happened, to maybe pass on before it's too
late for us. I have a diary that our Dad had with him before, during
and after Dunkirk, in a grand cut tobacco tin wrapped in a park drive
packet. Please if you can help, contact dereklcg@blueyonder.co.uk I am having trouble finding anything on HMS
Malcolm. My grandfather served on the Malcolm at the beginning of his
naval career which started in 1919 and went on to 1935. If anyone can give
me information on HMS Malcom it would be much appreciated. Contact me at sldsonyspeakers@aol.com FRANK COLLINS
My Great Grandfather served
on HMS Malcolm. I am trying to find photo's of him and other crew and the
Ship. if anyone can help me please contact me Lee Collins at cozi1@freeuk.com
HMS MACKAY
JOE DELACOE: My father who survives still, served aboard this
vessel in WW2 as Stoker 'Joe Delacoe'. He is in failing health but
would love to hear from anyone who served aboard the Mackay or who knows
him - probably known as Taffy as he is of Welsh persuasion. Or
indeed anyone who knows anything about the ship or who has anything at all
to say on the subject. Contact
Here
HMS DOUGLAS
D W GOODWIN: My father served on HMS Douglas during WW" based at Gibraltar,
he later served on Submarines. If anyone knew him or has photos of the
ship or its crew. i would love to hear from them. contact Tony Goodwin at EA.TGoodwin@edmund-nuttal.co.uk |
