Schleswig Holstein, pre-Dreadnaught German Battleship of the Deutchland Class, took part in the Battle of Jutland, and survived world war one to serve in the second world war as a training ship for the Reichsmarine

Built by Germaniawerft launched at Kiel on the 17th December 1906 and commisisoned  into the German navy on the 6th July 1908. Took part in the Battle of Jutland before becoming  a tender at Bremerhaven in 1917  and accommodation ship in 1918, she was then refitted at Wilhelmshaven dockyard becoming the fleet flag ship of the Reichsmarine in 1926. In 1935 Schleswig Holstein became a sea cadet training ship  and in 1939  it was planned for the Schleswig Holstein to become a remote controlled target ship but due to the outbreak of hostilities she saw service in the Baltic from 1939-44 before being bombed and sunk  on the 18th December 1944 at Gotenhaven by the  Royal Air Force.  Raised in 1945 - 1946, and transferred to Kronstadt and used for a short time as a training hulk under the name of Borodino. finally broken up at Tallinn.  The ships bell in in the Army Museum at Dresden

Displacement: 13,993 tons,  Range. 5720 miles at 10 Knots. Armament: Four  280mm Guns in two turrets, Fourteen 170mm Guns, and Twenty 80mm, 4 Machine guns and six torpedo tubes.  Speed 18.5 knots, Compliment: 743
