HMS Prince of Wales - Battleship

HMS Prince of Wales of the London Class of Battleships. HMS Prince of Wales was built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down on the 20th march 1901 and launched on the 25th of March 1902, and completed in 1904. HMS Prince of Wales differed (along with HMS Queen) from the rest of the Class by having amidships open 12 pounder gun batteries. From joining the Royal navy she served until May 1906 in the Mediterranean fleet, then returning to Britain to join the Commissioned reserve at Portsmouth to be refitted, After refit in September returning to the |Mediterranean as Flagship of rear admiral, until November 1908 when she joined the Atlantic fleet as C-in-C's Flagship and from May 1912 Flagship of Vice Admiral of 3rd battle squadron, 1st Fleet and then Flagship of the 2nd Fleet at Portsmouth, Between 1912 and 1914 HMS Prince of Wales joined 5th battle squadron and from the outbreak of world war one joined the Channel patrols. In may 1915 she was sent to the Dardanelle's to support the Anzac landings on the 25th April 1915. going to the Adriatic with three of her sister ships on 12th may 1915, before retuning to Britain to serve in Harbour service at the beginning of 1918.
Displacement: 14,150 tons load and deep load 15,400 tons Speed: 18 knots Compliment: 714 Armament: Four 12 -inch Guns in Pairs, twelve 6 -inch Q/F single guns, Sixteen 12 pounder single guns (Q/F) Six 3 pounder QF and four 18 - inch submerged Torpedo Tubes.
