HMS Erin - Battleship

HMS Erin, built for the Turkish Navy and to be named Reshadieh. Joined the Royal Navy on completion in August 1914, HMS Erin joined the 2nd Battle Squadron of the Grand Fleet in September 1914 and fought at the Battle of Jutland., receiving no damage or casualties. In 1917 she received modifications to the Fire Control and searchlights and in 1918 she was modified with aircraft platforms on both B and Q turrets. After world war one, she joined the Nore reserve as flagship and sold for scrapping in December 1922 as part of the Washington Treaty.
Displacement: 22,780 tons and 25,250 tons deep load. Speed: 21 Knots, Range: 5,300 nm at 10Knots Armament: Ten 13.5 -inch Guns in pairs. Sixteen 6 -inch guns Six 6 pounder, and twp 3 - inch AA guns. Four 21-inch Torpedo Tubes. Compliment: 1070
Purchased from Turkey (ex - Reshadieh) 22nd August 1914. Sold for scrap 19th December 1920. Arrived for scrapping 2nd February 1923.
