30th March 1938 - Laid Down at John Brown and Co, Clydebank 31st May 1939 - Pennant Number 58 31st May 1939 - Launched 28th December 1939 - Capt. W G Benn in Command 4th June 1940 - Sailed the Clyde for Bermuda and work up 10th June 1940 - Arrived Bermuda 11th June 1940 - Commenced Patrol off Martinique 12th July 1940 - Completed patrol. Sailed for Greenock 23rd July 1940 - Arrived Greenock for repairs 10th August 1940 - Sailed Greenock for Scapa Flow 20th August 1940 - Arrived Rosyth 23rd August 1940 - Allocated for "Operation Menace" 31st August 1940 - Sailed Scapa Flow 1st September 1940 - Torpedoed by U-Boat and returned to Greenock for repairs 1st September 1940 - Escorted by HMS Javelin to Clyde for repair 16th December 1940 - Capt.
