HMS Cybele Laid Down : Launched : 16th November 1943 Completed : Type : Minesweeper Class : Builder : Scotts Country : UK Pennants : Fate : Scrapped October 1946. |
| Constucted with Mine Destructor hull, experimental towed sweeps, steered by remote control and unmanned. She was designed for experimental use in relation to solving the problem of sweeping for pressure mines. Displacement: 3980 tons. 369' x 60' x 30' (but draught could be reduced by pumping out ballast). She was completed in 1943, tested to destruction and finally broken up in 1946. Listed as an Algerine class for security reasons. |
