HMS Resistance was built by Westwood and Baillie at Millwall and laid down December 1859, launched 11th April 1861 and completed 2nd July 1862. Was re armed during her refit of 1867 / 1869 her sea career finished in 1880. In 1885 she was used for Gunnery and Torpedo experiments. Sold in 1898 but foundered at Holyhead Bay in 1899, raised and broken up later that year. Displacement 6,150 tons) Speed: 11.8 Knots. Complement 460. Armament: Six 7 - inch Breach loaders, Ten 68 pounder SB, and Two 32 pounders. These being replaced in 1868 With Two 8 inch MLR, and fourteen 7 - inch MLR. |
