Clipped Signature - Sir John Grandy. Commanded No.219 Sqn flying Blenheims then No.249 Sqn flying Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain before being shot down and injured in September 1940. Returning to duty, he rose through the ranks to eventually become Marshal of the Royal Air Force in 1971, the year of his retirement. He died in 2004.
