Submarine histories. Royal Navy submarines HMS Otway and HMS Oxley. HMS Otway was built by Vickers Armstrong and launched 7th September 1926. completed for the Australian navy and served with the RAN 1927 to 1931. when she was transferred to the Royal Navy. during world war two she served in the Mediterranean. HMS Oxley was built by Vickers Armstrong and launched 29th June 1926. completed for the Australian navy and served with the RAN 1927 to 1931. when she was transferred to the Royal Navy. Conflicting reports state that HMS Oxley was torpedoed by HMS Triton. or was rammed in error by Triton. off the Norwegian Cost. She serve din the Home Flotillas during World war two Displacement: 1354 tons Compliment: 55. Armament: 8 x 21 inch torpedo tubes (6 bow, 2 stern). One 4 inch quick-firing MkIV gun (later MkXII) Speed: surface speed 15 knots, submerged speed 8.5 knots |
