navy Auxiliary Fleet tankers of the OL class. Olwen, Olna, Olmeda.
Fastest and largest ships of the Fleet Auxiliary service of the
mid 1960's. These tankers were designed with strengthened hulls
for use in ice, also all three ships were fully air conditioned.
also had landing decks, for helicopters as well as hanger space for two
helicopters.
Displacement: 10,890 trons. and a full load of 36,000 tons. Speed: 20 knots. Compliment: 108 crew and a further accommodation of 40 RN personnel. Armament: 4 Oerlikon 20mm machine Guns. and two Westland sea King HAS 5 |
