Abdiel Class Cruiser - Minelayers.  Photos and history of the cruiser minelayers of the Abdiel Class.  Launched 1940 - 1943, the class included HMS Abdiel, HMS Apollo, HMS Ariadne, HMS Latona, HMS Manxman and HMS Welshman.  Photos included of all ships in the class.
HMS Abdiel 23rd March 1940 Sunk on 10th September 1943 by a ground mine.
HMS Apollo 5th April 1943 Broken up for scrap in 1962.
HMS Ariadne 16th February 1943 Broken up for scrap in 1965.
HMS Latona 20th August 1940 Scuttled after sever fire damage and explosions on 25th October 1941.
HMS Manxman 5th September 1940 Severely damaged by a torpedo and repairs took 2 years. Broken up for scrap in 1971.
HMS Welshman 4th September 1940 Torpedoed by U617 and sank on 1st February 1943.

HMS Welshman. built by hawthorn Leslie and launched 4th September 1940 and completed 25th August 1941. Served in the Home Fleet 1941 - 1942 and then the Mediterranean fleet 1943.  Torpedoed and sunk by U-617 on the 1st February 1943.
