Mississippi Class Pre Dreadnaught
battleship of the Us navy, consisted of USS Mississippi BB23 and USS
Idaho BB24. Both battleships built by Cramp. Ordered under the
1903 naval act. In 1909 USS Mississippi went up the Mississippi
river calling at Nathcez, and other river ports She served as a seaplane
base ship iat the beginning of 1914 at Pensacola, moving to Vera Cruz
during the Mexican war.. Both USS Mississippi and USS Idaho were
sold to Greece on the 30th July 1914. USS
Mississippi becoming Lemnos and USS Idaho becoming Kilkis. they
remained in Greek service until being sunk by German aircraft during
World |war two at salamis in April 1941.
