MESSAGES
WALTER GRAY.. My Father served on H.M.S. Resolution from 28th
August 1942 to 28the February 1943 as part of the Royal Marines attached
to the ship he was then transfered to H.M.S Warsprite. He did not speak
about his wartime experiences so this is all we know from recently found
"certificate of service". Contact
Here
TOM FRASER.. My Uncle (Stoker 1st Class C/KX
117336 Tom Fraser, my Dad’s brother), served on the Resolution as a
Stoker during 1943, after being transferred from HMS Warspite until
Resolution was mothballed in the summer. After this he transferred to HMS
Redmill, a Captain Class frigate for almost the rest of the war. I
recently discovered the collection of 88 well-written wartime letters he
wrote to his family at home in Burnley, Lancs. Some were written from the
Resolution. He was killed on the Redmill in April 1945, exactly a month
before his 25th birthday and 10 days before the end of hostilities in
Europe. I aim to annotate the letters and publish them as a book. If you
have any memories of my uncle Tom, please get in touch. Tom Fraser,
Cartmel, Cumbria, England. Contact
Here
RON FENNER... My
now deceased uncle, Mr Ron Fenner, served on the Resolution during the
Narvik Campaign in 1940. I believe he was a part of a Royal Marine
detachment with the ship. Ron
did not talk much about his wartime experiences and he died in the mid
1990's before I was really aware of his activities during the war. Do you
know if there is any veteran's association for the ship that I could
contact. contact
