[UP] - Kaiser - Friedrich der Grosse - Kaiserin - Konig Albert - Prinzregent Luitpold

SMS Kaiser German battleship of the Kaiser Class battleships of the German Navy.   SMS Kaiser was built at the imperial Dockyard at Keil. laid down in September 1909. launched  on the 22nd March 1911 and commissioned into the German navy on the 1st august 1912. These were the first German battleships with super imposed turrets and turbines. Participated in the First major overseas of a detached division to South America and south Africa between 1913 and 1914.  Fought at the Battle of Jutland  receiving direct hits and sustaining damage which was repaired in August 1916.  Interned at Scapa Flow 25th November 1918 and scuttled at 1325 on 21 June 1919 and sank. Raised 20th march 1929 and scrapped at Rosyth in 1930.

WEIGHT 24,380 tons to 27,000 tons      DIMENSIONS  564FT (171.8m) x 95.3FT (29m) x 27.3FT (9.1M) SPEED 21knots to 23 knots   RANGE 7,900 Miles at 12 knots, 2,400 Miles at 21 Knots.     ARMAMENT Ten 12-inch guns in pairs in five turrets  fourteen  5.9 -inch single guns Eight 3.4 inch single guns  and four 3.4 inch Anti Aircraft guns   Five 20- inch Torpedo Tubes all submerged.   Compliment of 1084 to 1250  (1084 made up of 41 Officers and 1043 other ranks)

KAISER  built at Kiel Dock Yard and launched 22nd March 1911 and commissioned on the 1st August 1912.  On trials attained a speed of 23.6 knots (was expected to achieve 21 to 22 knots). Fought at Jutland and sustained damage from shell fire.  After the armistice The Kaiser was interned at Scapa Flow and was scuttled there by her crew on the 21st June 1919, eventually raised on 20th  March 1929 and scrapped at Rosyth.
