USS Wisconsin

American battleship histories. American naval battleship USS Wisconsin. Battleship website dedicated to the history of USS Wisconsin from their launch to their participation in major wars also notice board for naval historians & families of ex-crew of USS Wisconsin.

Built at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and launched on the 7th December 1943, commissioned into the US navy on the 14th March 1944. Mainly used for Carrier escort and only served in the Pacific Theatre. In march 1949 USS Wisconsin was put into reserve but were used during the Korean war as fire support ship, until again put into reserve in 1955 and decommissioned in 1958. re commissioned in 1988 and served during the Gulf war, after the war she was laid up but on the 13th January 1995 she was finally removed from service.

CLARENCE EUGENE HAMLETT... I'm just researching my grandfather's past. He served on the Wisconsin in the 40's. I don't know the exact dates. His name was Clarence Eugene Hamlett. I'm just hoping to learn something about him. Unfortunately, he passed away a while back and I never had the opportunity to learn his history.
