Built by NYSB,
Camden and launched on the 23rd December 1909, commissioned into the Us
navy on the 31st August 1911. USS Utah with USS Florida were dispatched to
Vera Cruz in the 1914 crisis, they were the first US Battleships involved.
Took part in the landing of 1,000 Marines and Soldiers. During The
Great War, USS Utah was employed protecting Atlantic Convoys and was based
at Bantry Bay, Ireland. She was retained after the Washington treaty and
was the oldest class kept. extensively rebuilt in August 1926 and again in
October 1928, being fitted with Oil Fuel turbines and blisters. But was
discarded under the terms of the London treaty of 1930. used as a remote
controlled target ship. recommissioned into the Navy on the 1st April
1932. She was used as an experimental vessel and a training ship for Anti
Aircraft Gunner crews. refitted with the 5-inch AA Guns. On the 7th December
during the Japanese attack on pearl harbor she was hit by two aerial
torpedoes, and was sunk, the Wreck remains in situ at Pearl harbor.
