MESSAGES
JAMES HARGREAVES... I am researching a grand uncle called James
Hargreaves. He is reputed to have died while serving on board HMS Tiger,
in an "incident" during an exercise pre-1914. There is also
reputed to be a postcard commemorating the "incident", but I
wonder whether it might have been a small scale action, perhaps somewhere
in the Empire. I would be very grateful for any information anyone might
have which can help me pin down the fate of James Hargreaves.

STOKER, A. SOPER.. I am an ex-REME
soldier living in Aabenraa in
Denmark. I have come across the grave of Stoker A. Soper from HMS Tiger
who was
buried on June 16 1920. He shares the grave with Chief Stoker Sidney
Hingston from HMS Hood. Can anyone give me information on either man.

squadron of 3 cruisers & 8 destroyers were sent to the Baltic on
a
goodwill visit to Scandinavian countries and to dissuade Bolsheviks from
expanding into the Baltic states & possibly on to
Europe. They left Nynäshamn,
Sweden on 13 June, arriving Aabenraa, Denmark 15 June.
They conducted an exercise en-route.
He was Sydney
Adolphus Soper born abt 1896, a
Stoker 1st Class. Parents Edward & Allen : Home, Plymouth, Devon. Died
aged
24, 13 June 1920 and buried at: Aabenraa Cemetery 16 June. Parents
might be in the 1881 census for Egg Buckland,
Devon : Edward (32) a general labourer born Plymouth, wife Ellem M. Soper

b.Tamerton --- Presume this family at Plympton St Mary in
1901 census : Edward Soper (55), b.Plymouth : Ellen Soper (49)
GEORGE JORDAN - my grandfather, was a Stoker on HMS Tiger at Battle
of Jutland and would have been about 48 years old at the time - he may be
in the photo sent in by Malcom Bibbings - any info regarding the number of
Stokers that would be in the Crew, any
general info about the ship
circa 1916-18, and any further details about the posted photo by Mr.

P.C.W. HOWE.. My grandfather served as Engineer Commander on HMS
Tiger from 1919-1922. I would be grateful for any information about my

CAPTAIN DAVIES.. I am looking for a crew list for HMS Tiger. My
great grandfather was a captain on her but I don't know his first names.

CAPTAIN CHARLES TAYLOR.. Does anyone have information about Charles
Taylor who served on HMS Tiger and was killed in action on January 24th

ALFRED WILLIAM CHAMBERS.. My grandfather served in
the Royal Navy from 1911 till 1925. He served on HMS Tiger from 3rd
October 1914 to 5th Nov 1917. I recently obtained an original copy of his
service record following its release to the PRO. The MOD statement is very
pithy and it was not until I started research on the ships did I realise
that he participated in the 1915 and 1916 actions. I have several
photographs of him and other shipmates sadly not on the Tiger (HMS Castor
1922-24) and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has scenes of HMS
