HMS Thames

I found this photo in my late father's gear.  He was serving in the RAF in Aden before the war and was lucky to be invited on board when Thames visited in late 38/early 39.  On the back of the photo he wrote :  "Submarine;  H.M.S. Thames;I went to sea on this boat on 2/1/39 - dived three times - very nice too;  Aden 1939."   My father, who served for 26 years in two wars kept very few mementos this was one together with an HMS Thames Hat Tally which I am sending to the Submarine Museum at Gosport.                                                        Many thanks to Bill Beacham for the photo and information.

MESSAGES

I am seeking information about HMS Thames on which my father served until he was killed. I believe she hit a mine off the coast of Norway in 1939 but have never seen confirmation. Can anyone give me more information?
