SMS Ariadne of the
gazelle light cruiser class, Built at AG Weser at Bremen and laid down in
1899,
launched 10th August 1900 and commissioned into the German Navy on
18th May 1901. SMS Ariadne served
with the fleet and in 1914 became a coastal defence ship. Sunk by
Gunfire from British Battlecruisers during the Heligobight raid. at
1600 hours on 28th august 1914 in the North sea north of Norderney. with
the loss of 64 killed.
