USS Saratoga

American aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. Naval history of USS Saratoga, American aircraft carrier, from launch to participation in major wars also notice board for naval historians & families of ex-crew of USS Saratoga. USS Saratoga was the US Navies third aircraft carrier, (CV-3) and sister ship to the USS Lexington. Built by New York Ship yards and launched 7th April 1925. In December 1929 she became a floating power station along with her sister ship USS Lexington when the city of Tacoma had a massive power failure. Displacement: 33,528 tons, Speed: 33 Knots, Armament: Eight 8-inch Guns, twelve 5 - inch guns., Sixteen 1.1 inch and sixteen .5 inch. Aircraft 80 to 90 aircraft. Crew 1899
