Naval Historians, Descendents of Crew Notice board Please note this message board is not connected in any way to official governmental or naval organisations. MESSAGES E. W. COOK.. My uncle E. W. Cook was on the USS. New Mexico in Feb. 1943. My father, who is still alive, served on the USS New Mexico (BB-40) from 1941-42. He was a Chief Petty Officer and is looking for former ship mates. After he left the New Mexico, he worked with Admiral Nimitz in Hawaii at (CinCPac-CinCPOA). His desk was four offices down from Nimitz.
