| HMS JERVIS (F.00) Built by Hawthorn Leslie and launched
9th September 1938. One of three of the class built as leaders. She
Served in Home waters at the time of the outbreak of WW2, and moved to the
Mediterranean in 1940 (along with most of the class), returning back
to the Home waters for a short period before returning to the Mediterranean.
after the war she was eventually Scrapped at Port Bannatyne in September
1949.
Displacement: 1690 tons as designed but actually was
2330 to 2380 tons during WW2. and later at deep load 2550 tons.
Speed: 36 knots. Compliment: 183 - 218. Armament: Six
4.7-inch, 45 calibre QF MKX11 in pairs. plus Four 2 -pounder pompom, and
ten 21-inch Torpedo Tubes in two sets of five

MESSAGES
E. H. DAVIES.. I am trying to locate information on E.H.
Davies who may have served on either HMS King George V, HMS Jervis or HMS
Penelope during WWII. I inherited oil paintings of these ships
painted by him for my grandfather, Geoff Davies (who I believe served with
him, I don't think they were related). Unfortunately, my grandfather
died 20 years ago and I have no further information except that I remember
him saying he served on the Arctic convoys going to Murmansk. I
would greatly appreciate any information about either man. |
