HMS Sybille Aeolus 2nd Class Cruiser
HMS Sybille 27th December 1890 Wrecked on 16th January 1901.

Photograph shows HMS Sybille leaving Portsmouth for South Africa c.1901. The second class cruiser arrived at Lambert's Bay South Africa in January 1901 for the purpose of landing men in connection with the rebellion in Cape Colony. She had to put to sea after a gale came up but unfortunately she was driven onto rocks 300 yards from the shore. Only one man was killed.
