HMS Illustrious,
launched 17th September 1896 and served with the Channel Fleet until
September 1908. Went into reserve
and transferred into the 3rd fleet at Devonport in 1912. Outbreak of world
war one, recommissioned as guard ship for Loch Awe, Lough Swilly, The Tyne
and finally the Humber. In May 1915 she joined the southern fleet in the
Channel finally used as an ammunition ship in 1916. Eventually sold for
breaking 18th June 1920.
