HMS Caesar. Royal Naval battleship of the Majestic Class. HMS Caesar was the flagship of the Majestic Class from December 1905. Temporarily in February 1907, she became flagship of the Atlantic Fleet, but joined the Home Fleet at Devonport in May 1907 where she was refitted 1907-08. In May 1909 she went to the Home Fleet at the Nore, but was transferred to the 3rd Division, Home Fleet at Devonport in April 1911. In March 1912 she was part of the 4th Division, Home Fleet, remaining with the Home Fleet until the outbreak of World War One. From 1915 to 1918 she carried out Atlantic Patrols on the North America and North Indies Station, after which she went to the Mediterranean, passing through the Dardenelles after the Armistice to support operations in the Black Sea against the Bolsheviks. Armament: four 12 inch guns, twelve 6 inch guns, sixteen 12 pdr guns, twelve 3 pdr guns, 2 maxims, two 2pdr boat guns and five torpedo tubes. Displacement: 14,900 tons. Speed: 16.5 knots. Complement: 757. |
