Grimsby Class Sloops

Built with Convoy protection in mind The Grimsby Class Sloops were laid down between 1933 - 1939, and completed 1934 - 1940. First launched was HMS Leith, followed by Grimsby, Lowestoft, Wellington, Deptford, Fleetwood, Aberdeen, and for the Australian Navy, RAN, Parramatta, Swan, Warrego, and Yarra

Displacement: 990 tons, standard and 1490 tons deep load, The Australian Ships, 1060 tons and 1510 tons deep load. Speed: 16.5 knots,  Compliment: 100  Armament: Two 4.7-inch QF guns,  One 3 -inch  and Four 3 pounder guns.

HMS Aberdeen 22nd January 1936 Scrapped in 1949.
HMS Deptford 5th February 1935 Scrapped in 1948.
HMS Fleetwood 24th March 1936 Scrapped in 1959.
HMS Grimsby 19th July 1933 Bombed and sunk on 25th May 1941.
HMS Leith 9th September 1933 Sold to merchant navy in 1946. Transferred to Denmark in 1949, renamed Galathea.
HMS Londonderry 16th January 1935 Scrapped in 1948.
HMS Lowestoft 11th April 1934 Sold to merchant navy in 1946.
HMS Wellington 29th May 1934 Became the Master Mariner' Head Quarters ship in 1947.
HMS Parramata 18th June 1939 Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy. Sunk on 27th November 1941 by German U-boat.
HMS Swan 28th March 1936 Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy. Sold for scrapping in 1964.
HMS Warrego 10th February 1940 Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy. Scrapped in 1966.
HMS Yarra 28th March 1935 Transferred to the Royal Australian Navy. Sunk on 4th March 1942 by Japanese Navy ships.
