Friedrich Carl (or Karl) of the German
Prinz Adalbert class Armoured or heavy Cruiser. The Friedrich Carl
was built By Blohm and Voss and laid down in 1901, launched 21st June 1902
and completed for the German navy 12th December 1903. She was intended for
use in Oversea cruiser Station but instead was used as a Torpedo training
Ship from 1908. When war broke out in 1914. Friedrich Carl was mobilized
for war service as a coastal Defence ship. but on the 17th November 1914
was sunk by Russian mines in the Baltic w.s.w of Memel. with only a few
casualties
