Deutschland: Part of the Deutschland
class, The last pre dreadnaught Battleship of the Imperial German
Navy. Similar to previous class (Braunschweig) except having different
shaped funnels and a thicker 9.5 inch armour belt.
SMS Deutschland Built by Germaniawerft launched at Kiel on the
20th November 1904 and commissioned into the German navy on the 3rd
August 1906 Deutschland was the flag
ship of the fleet from 1910 to 1913 and participated in the
Battle of Jutland
(This this class being the only pre dreadnaught ships at the battle) before becoming an accommodation ship in
1917 at Wilhelmshaven., finally scrapped in 1922
at Wilhelmshaven. SMS Deutschland ornament is now housed at the
underwater weapons school at Eckernforde. and the Ships bell is in
the Mausoleum of Prince Heinrich, at Hemmelmark.
Displacement: 13,993 tons,
Range: 4850 miles at 10 Knots. Armament:
Four 280mm Guns in two turrets, Fourteen 170mm Guns, and Twenty
80mm, 4 Machine guns and six torpedo tubes. Speed 18.5 knots,
