Photographs and history of the Virginia Class Battleship of the United States Navy, BB17 USS Rhode Island, from its launch in 1904 until its scrapping in 1923.

USS Rhode island was built at Fore river under the Naval act of 1900. laid down 1st May 1902, launched 17th May 1904, and completed 19th February 1906. Scrapped in 1923

Displacement: 14,948 tons, and 16,098 tons full load.  Speed: 19 Knots, Crew 812.     Armament: Four 12 inch  Guns (2 x 2 ) Eight 8 inch Guns, twelve 6 inch guns Twelve  3 inch guns , Twelve  3 pounder,  two 1 pounder guns. and Four 21 inch Torpedo Tubes all submerged.   
BB17   USS Rhode Island 17th May 1904 Sold for scrap in 1923.
