Photographs and history of the Virginia Class Battleship of the United States Navy, BB16 New Jersey, from its launch in 1904 until its use as a target in 1923.

BB16 USS New Jersey was built at Fore river and laid down 3rd April 1902, launched 10th November 1904, and completed 19th February 1906. Sunk as a target in 1923.

Displacement: 14,948 tons, and 16,098 tons full load.  Speed: 19 Knots, Crew 812.     Armament: Four 12 inch  Guns (2 x 2 ) Eight 8 inch Guns, twelve 6 inch guns Twelve  3 inch guns , Twelve  3 pounder, two 1 pounder guns. and Four 21 inch Torpedo Tubes all submerged.   
BB16   USS New Jersey 10th November 1904 Saw service off Cuba in 1907 and landed marines at Vera Cruz during in 1914. Used as a target and sunk in 1923.
