Allen M Sumner Class

The US Naval Bureau of Ships proposed a new design of destroyer which had the design of enclosed  5-inch gun turrets. (similar to the larger ships). The advantage this gained over the previous Fletcher design was more space saved from overcrowding on the previous design this would give space for more AA armament.

Displacement: 2200 tons,  speed: 36.5 knots,   Range 3300 nm at 20 Knots  Armament: six 5 - inch guns.  Twelve 40mm AA guns,  Ten 21 inch torpedo Tubes.   Crew: 336 / 350
